About Numan Khan

About

A few notes on who I am, how I got here, and what keeps me building.

I'm Numan Khan, a self-taught full-stack developer based in New Delhi, India. My focus is backend engineering and the architecture behind reliable, scalable web applications. I've worked on e-commerce platforms, automation tooling, and internal developer infrastructure.

I started programming young, drawn in by the puzzle of getting machines to do useful things. That curiosity grew into a habit of building, breaking, and refactoring. Today I work comfortably across the stack: React and Next.js on the frontend, Node.js, Python, and Rust on the backend, with Docker, AWS, and CI/CD tying it all together.

What I care about is clean, maintainable code that scales predictably under real load. I believe in choosing the simplest tool that solves the problem, in writing systems that future engineers can read without context, and in shipping work that respects the user’s time and attention.

Right now I'm exploring system design at scale, distributed databases, and the practical edges of open source contribution. There's always more to learn, and that's the part I enjoy most.

Off hours: the Star Wars saga above all, Hindi film soundtracks, lo-fi while writing code. Two cups of chai before any serious work.

Journey

  1. 2017

    First lines of code

Started with HTML and CSS, built my first static page with too much CSS animation. Got hooked on the loop of writing something and watching it render.

  2. 2019

    Full-stack curiosity

Picked up JavaScript, React, and Node.js. Built my first real web app, made every junior mistake worth making, and learned to actually read documentation.

  3. 2021

    Backend specialization

Moved deeper into backend. Learned Python, Postgres, Docker, and started caring about API design, indexing, and what happens when things scale.

  4. 2023

    Open source & craft

Began contributing to open source. Learned the discipline of writing code other people will read, plus the art of writing a useful pull request description.

  5. 2026

    What's next

Exploring system design at scale, distributed systems, and Rust for the parts that need to be fast. Always shipping, always learning.

Off hours

Movies
The Star Wars saga above all, plus the work of filmmakers like George Lucas and Christopher Nolan. Stories that take craft seriously.
Music
Hindi film soundtracks, lo-fi while writing code, occasional rock when the build needs energy. Whatever fits the moment.
Reading
Engineering blogs, system design case studies, and the occasional sci-fi novel to remind myself the future is mostly fiction.
Fuel
Two cups of chai before any serious work. Coffee for the pre-commit panic. Sleep when the tests finally pass.
